Tori Entwistle: Engineering with Heart and Purpose
Winner of the Cody Steven Oser Legacy Scholarship
Tori Entwistle’s journey to becoming a biomedical and mechanical engineering student at Colorado State University is one deeply rooted in compassion, resilience, and a desire to serve. From a young age, she was shaped by the challenges of growing up with a mother living with multiple sclerosis—a condition that gradually took away her mobility and independence. Rather than letting those hardships defeat her spirit, Tori used them as fuel for her future. She learned to problem-solve creatively, care deeply, and step into responsibility well beyond her years. These early experiences became the foundation for her dream: to design mobility aids that help people reclaim autonomy and dignity.
Like Cody Oser—whose legacy this scholarship honors—Tori is driven by more than just technical ability. She believes that engineering is a human-centered discipline, where service and innovation intersect to create real-world impact. Her commitment to biomedical engineering was solidified during a life-changing trip to Ecuador, where she helped fit prosthetic limbs for individuals in underserved communities. Seeing someone walk again for the first time, filled with hope and relief, underscored for her that mobility isn’t just about movement—it’s about freedom. Tori now aspires to develop low-cost, innovative solutions such as exoskeletons, wheelchairs, and supportive braces, ensuring that no one is left behind because of their circumstances.
Her commitment to service extends far beyond the lab. Tori is known for her uplifting spirit—offering flowers, kind words, or simply showing up for someone in need. She’s a thoughtful teammate and a natural leader, who brings others along in both heart and skill. On the Ecuador trip, she not only guided the technical aspects of prosthetic creation but also empowered her peers by teaching them the craft. Fluent in Spanish, she formed direct connections with the clients they served, ensuring the work was not only effective but deeply personal. Tori’s leadership blends compassion and clarity, allowing her to create solutions that truly resonate with those who need them.
Inspired by her father's selflessness and quiet strength—particularly as he supported her mother while facing his own cancer diagnosis—Tori sees engineering as a calling to lift others up. Her dual-degree pursuit, international partnerships, and community engagement all speak to a life shaped by purpose. She doesn’t just want to solve problems—she wants to restore dignity, empower others, and carry forward a legacy of service.
Tori’s work exemplifies the spirit of “Be a Cody”—using her education, empathy, and ingenuity to build a better world. As she continues her studies at CSU, she honors Cody’s memory not only through her goals but through the way she shows up every day: with heart, humility, and a deep determination to serve.

Jimmy Griffin Memorial Scholarship Recipient: Isaac Lindeman
Isaac Lindeman, recipient of this year’s Jimmy Griffin Memorial Scholarship, exemplifies the leadership, heart, and selflessness that marked Jimmy’s legacy. A graduating senior from Legacy High School, Isaac has left a lasting impression on the football field and beyond. Honored with the “Heart of the Boltz” award, Isaac's deep commitment to his team—through four years of growth, position changes, and personal perseverance—shows his dedication to stepping up when needed and lifting others along the way. His quiet strength and team-first attitude made him a respected leader among his peers, especially as a senior starting defensive end mentoring younger teammates.
Off the field, Isaac’s creativity is equally inspiring. He will be attending Texas Tech University this fall on a partial academic scholarship (50%!), where he plans to study film, fashion, and business. Whether he's storyboarding new film ideas in the notes app on his phone or sketching clothing designs before bed, Isaac’s passions are fueled by imagination and the desire to express himself through art. His love for directing and design aren’t just hobbies—they are dreams in motion, nurtured by his curiosity and drive to grow.
Isaac’s compassion for others is as strong as his work ethic. From tutoring classmates to stocking shelves at FISH, volunteering with the Broomfield Resettlement Task Force, and delivering food from his family’s annual drive, Isaac understands that community is built through kindness. He reflects especially on his friendship with Sameer, a refugee student he helped resettle, sharing how their bond taught him the power of laughter and connection across differences. He also recalls joyfully giving his own bunk bed to a local family emerging from homelessness, a gesture that meant sleeping on the floor for a time—but one that he wouldn’t trade for anything.
It’s no surprise that Isaac credits much of his growth and success to the unwavering encouragement of his mom. She’s been his coach, cheerleader, and creative guide, championing his interests and making sure he stayed balanced in both academics and athletics. From buying sketchbooks and offering honest critiques of his art to keeping him motivated in the gym, her influence has helped Isaac become a resilient, grounded, and confident young man.
Isaac Lindeman represents all that this scholarship hopes to honor: courage in the face of challenge, generosity toward others, and a strong, steady commitment to bettering oneself and one’s community. With his remarkable mix of heart, creativity, and leadership, Isaac carries forward Jimmy Griffin’s legacy in all the best ways. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.

The Broomfield Community Foundation is proud to announce Ari as the 2025 recipient of the Matthew R. Craddock Memorial Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship, established to honor the legacy of Coach Craddock—a long-time coach and educator within the Adams 12 Five Star School District—recognizes a graduating senior who demonstrates perseverance, leadership, and a commitment to community. Ari embodies these qualities through his personal journey, leadership roles, and service to others.
Ari’s story is one of strength and authenticity. Moving from a predominantly Black community in Georgia to a predominantly white neighborhood in Colorado posed emotional and social challenges. He struggled to fit in while confronting microaggressions and stereotypes from classmates and teammates. Yet, instead of conforming, Ari chose authenticity—embracing his multiracial identity and unique family structure. He sought out meaningful connections, encouraged open dialogue, and advocated for inclusivity. Through these experiences, Ari cultivated resilience and deepened his belief in the importance of embracing and celebrating diversity.
Beyond the personal, Ari has made a profound impact in his school and community. As a co-captain of the Legacy basketball team, a multi-sport athlete, and a dedicated volunteer with Thornton Fire and STADIUM MEDICAL, Ari leads by example—demonstrating discipline, positivity, and a commitment to service. His goal is to pursue a degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Pre-Athletic Training at Coe College, where he will continue playing varsity basketball. With aspirations to become an athletic trainer for a professional sports team, Ari is well on his way to combining his passion for sports with a lifelong dedication to helping others—honoring Coach Craddock’s spirit of mentorship, perseverance, and excellence.

Qynton Salyer Named 2025 George DiCiero Scholarship Recipient for Outstanding Leadership and Civic Commitment
The Broomfield Community Foundation proudly announces Qynton Salyer, a senior at Holy Family High School, as the 2025 recipient of the George DiCiero Scholarship. Established in honor of Broomfield’s long-serving City Manager George DiCiero, this scholarship recognizes students who embody the spirit of public service and demonstrate a clear vision for community impact. Qynton has not only cultivated a deep passion for public service and civic engagement, but has already made impressive strides as a leader and advocate at both the local and state level.
Qynton’s public service journey includes his role as Chairman of the Violence Reduction Committee within Congressman Joe Neguse’s Youth Advisory Council, where he demonstrated a strong sense of conviction and a thoughtful, data-driven approach to policy discussions. His tireless work in that role earned him the vote of his peers to become Youth Governor of Colorado. With aspirations of becoming a lobbyist focused on criminal justice reform, Qynton envisions a career where he can influence public policy, later channeling his experience into a leadership role in government—potentially even as a City Manager, following in the footsteps of Mr. DiCiero. His decision to pursue a degree in finance will strengthen his ability to impact public administration by promoting fiscally sustainable practices. A regular attendee of Broomfield City Council meetings, Qynton has already helped shape policy discussions, including efforts to lower the voting age to 16. These experiences, though at times challenging, have taught him the importance of perseverance, humility, and doing the work for the good of the community—not for the recognition.
City and County Manager Jennifer Hoffman praised Qynton in her recommendation, describing him as “one of the most intellectually curious, thoughtful, and well-rounded students” she has had the pleasure of mentoring. She noted his ability to connect with people of all ages, his confident yet humble demeanor, and his extraordinary communication skills. Whether leading conversations on complex policy or sharing advice with younger peers, Qynton is known for his optimistic presence, his integrity, and his desire to make a meaningful impact.

No matter how late he gets home, he always finds a way to help others. His quiet selflessness has made a lasting impact on me.”

Scholarship Recipient Spotlight One
Amy Lin: Fueled by Curiosity, Grounded in Purpose
For as long as she can remember, Amy Lin has found joy in numbers and discovery. Whether racing through multiplication timed tests in elementary school or diving deep into AP Calculus and Statistics in high school, Amy’s academic path has always been lit by an innate curiosity and genuine love for learning. This passion was nurtured in part by her father, who turned evening walks into joyful math games, fostering a sense of wonder and accomplishment in even the simplest equations. Though he can no longer walk beside her, Amy carries their connection in every problem she solves—proof that education, when rooted in love, becomes a lifelong gift.
Looking ahead, Amy plans to major in chemical engineering with a focus on creating sustainable, biodegradable materials. Raised in a household where reusing and reducing waste was a daily practice, she hopes to blend her cultural upbringing with innovative science to make meaningful contributions to environmental sustainability. Whether reimagining the use of plastics or helping communities reduce their ecological impact, Amy is driven to create solutions that serve both people and the planet. Her future is one of promise and purpose—built on a love of learning, a legacy of sacrifice, and an unwavering desire to do good.

Scholarship Recipient Spotlight Two
Ava Sondrup: Leading with Heart, Grit, and Gratitude
Ava Sondrup’s story is one of resilience, gratitude, and the quiet strength that comes from a deeply supportive family. Diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, Ava has spent years overcoming academic challenges that could have easily discouraged others. Instead, she embraced each obstacle with tenacity—leaning on her teachers, welcoming tutoring, and celebrating every hard-earned victory. Her unrelenting work ethic has paid off: she has maintained a remarkable 3.975 GPA at Broomfield High School. More importantly, she has learned to embrace herself fully, knowing that the road to success doesn’t have to be linear to be meaningful.
Much of Ava’s determination stems from the unwavering love and guidance of her parents. Her mother, who devoted countless hours to personalized literacy instruction and support during Ava’s elementary years, helped instill the belief that no goal is beyond reach. Her father, a constant presence of wisdom and encouragement, has shaped Ava’s mindset through sports and life alike, teaching her the family motto: “It’s not how you start, but how you finish.” That message rings true as Ava reflects on her high school journey—one filled with perseverance, purpose, and personal growth.
True to the spirit of the Kim Wilkerson Scholarship, Ava is not only a high achiever, but a passionate contributor to her school and broader community. A four-year member of Student Council, she has helped build a culture of acceptance and inclusion at Broomfield High. She also serves on A Precious Child’s Youth Advisory Board, where she’s championed efforts to support families and children in need. As Varsity Volleyball Captain, Ava found deep fulfillment in mentoring younger teammates—proving that leadership, at its best, is rooted in service and encouragement.
Ava’s story is a testament to how challenges can shape character, and how giving back defines true success. With a deep love for Broomfield and a heart for others, she lives out her belief that life is not about what you receive, but what you give. As she steps into the next chapter, Ava carries with her the lessons, values, and spirit that make her an extraordinary and deserving scholarship recipient. Go Eagles!

Scholarship Recipient Spotlight Three
Rebecca Rice: Woven with Strength, Fueled by Purpose
Rebecca Rice is the embodiment of fierce optimism—radiating positivity even in the face of life’s hardest lessons. Beneath her cheerful exterior is a story of strength, compassion, and unwavering resolve. As a teenager, Rebecca navigated the emotional weight of her mother’s battle with addiction. She stepped into a caregiver role far too young, learning to offer support, maintain hope, and ultimately accept that some things are beyond her control. It’s a journey that has shaped her into a deeply empathetic, self-aware young woman—one who brings both light and wisdom into every space she enters.
Living with her single father, Rebecca draws daily inspiration from his tireless devotion. Whether it’s supporting her educational pursuits or ensuring her brother could attend college with minimal debt, her dad’s sacrifices have laid a foundation of love and hard work. A longtime public servant in law enforcement, he has faced physical danger, exhaustion, and emotional tolls—all while remaining steadfast in his mission to protect and improve the community. Rebecca sees herself as an extension of that purpose, describing their connection as a shared “blanket,” woven with colors of challenge, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication.
Rebecca’s creative voice shines in her reflections on fate, where she imagines life as a hand-woven tapestry—each color representing moments both universal and unique. Her perspective is poetic, yet deeply personal, revealing how her father’s bravery and her own perseverance are threads that run parallel. Like her father, Rebecca is drawn to the criminal justice system—not out of obligation, but from a desire to build a safer, more just world. With her natural compassion, strength under pressure, and sense of purpose, she is determined to carry his legacy forward.
Rebecca Rice is not defined by the hardships she’s faced but by how she’s grown through them. Her optimism is not naïve—it’s a deliberate choice to see light and create change.
