Grant Review Committee Team Members Essential - Consider Fall 2025 Opportunity
At the BCF, grant funding is awarded through a thoughtful, structured process that ensures accountability and impact. Volunteer reviewers use a clearly defined scoring rubric to assess each application based on set criteria. This framework helps ensure funding decisions are fair, strategic, and focused on addressing the most pressing local needs. Most of the review work can be done remotely from the comfort of a volunteer’s home, making participation flexible and accessible. The review process culminates in a group meeting where scores are discussed and final funding recommendations are made collaboratively.
Serving as a grant reviewer offers volunteers a unique window into the heart of our community. It provides meaningful insight into the challenges local individuals and families face, and highlights the incredible work being done by nonprofit organizations to meet those needs—from youth programming and senior services to mental health support and beyond. Volunteers not only contribute to strengthening our community, but they also build new connections and friendships with fellow reviewers who share a passion for service and civic engagement.

We’re thrilled to share that the 2025 Volunteer Match event was a huge success! On Tuesday, September 16, the Broomfield Community Center welcomed more than two dozen nonprofits and a steady stream of community members ready to explore meaningful volunteer opportunities.
A heartfelt thank you to the 24 nonprofit organizations who participated and to all the residents who came out to learn, connect, and give back. Supporting Our Neighbors
in a Time of Rising Need
As we setttle into routine after a busy summer, it’s a good time to reflect on what truly matters—our shared values and the kind of community we want to build together.
In June, the Broomfield Community Foundation conducted a nonprofit climate survey, and the results are clear:
- Basic human service needs are greater than ever in Broomfield.
- Local nonprofits are facing significant funding shortfalls.
Recent changes to federal assistance programs will increase the number of residents in need of food, housing, and healthcare support. For example, in Colorado, over 584,000 people rely on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)—and many will soon face reduced access to this vital resource. Additionally, cuts to housing programs like Section 8 vouchers could leave an estimated 150 Broomfield households at risk of losing their homes, as eligibility tightens and funding shrinks.
At the Broomfield Community Foundation, we are committed to helping our neighbors through these challenges.
- Through our iGIVE365 Grantmaking Program, we support local nonprofits that provide food assistance, physical health and mental health services, housing support, and more.
- iGIVE365 involves pledging a $1-a-day donation where 100% of every dollar you give goes directly to organizations making a difference right here in our community.

From garden tours and mural painting to museum visits and library adventures, these campers experienced a summer to remember.
Housing with Heart: Two Groundbreakings Signal Hope for a More Affordable Broomfield

A Strong Start: Supporting Kindergarten Readiness
Through Summer Summitts
Do you remember your first classroom experience? Sitting cross-legged on a rug, raising your hand, learning to count with marshmallows—it’s all part of the big transition into kindergarten.
This June, Broomfield Community Foundation helped make those first experiences possible for incoming kindergarteners through the Rising K Summer Summit, a month-long academic program fully funded by Impact on Education and supported in part by BCF.
Hosted at Birch Elementary, the program welcomed students from across the district—many of whom had never attended preschool—giving them a vital head start on literacy, numeracy, and classroom routines.
Early childhood education changes lives, and the results speak for themselves:
- 100% of last year’s participants enrolled in school
- 80% met kindergarten readiness benchmarks
- 80% improved in core academic areas
Thanks to our donors, these students are ready to begin their academic journeys with confidence.tion at a time.
