Broomfield Community Foundation Accepting Scholarship Applications

The Broomfield Community Foundation is accepting applications for the following two scholarships:

George DiCiero Scholarship—This scholarship, established to honor Mr. DiCiero’s long and dedicated service as Broomfield’s City Manager, is awarded to someone who is pursuing a course of study that will prepare him/her for a public service position.  To be eligible, the student must have resided within the city limits of Broomfield for a minimum of 3 years prior to high school graduation; must be a candidate for high school graduation in the spring of 2011; must be accepted and enroll at any Colorado college or university; and must demonstrate a strong interest in a career in public service.  It is desirable that the applicant participated in activities that would be considered community service.

The DiCiero scholarship is up to $5,000 for an academic year and is renewable for up to four years upon certified proof of a 3.0 GPA and successful completion of the past year’s full time course work.  The application deadline is April 1, 2011.  Applications are available at the Broomfield Community Foundation office, P.O. Box 2040, Broomfield, CO  80038 (physical location is #26 Garden Center, Suite 4-D in Broomfield) or on the Foundation web site www.broomfieldfoundation.org.  The phone is 303-469-7208.  Applications are also available in the counseling offices of Broomfield High School, Legacy High School, and Holy Family High School.  Completed applications may be submitted to any of these locations by the deadline date.

Kim Wilkerson Memorial Scholarship—This scholarship, in memory of Kim Wilkerson, a former Broomfield High School math teacher, is awarded to a Broomfield High School student who has demonstrated desire and persistence in learning math, at any level, throughout their high school years.  Candidates for this scholarship do not have to show intent to continue in the field of math in post graduate study, but must attend an institution of higher learning.  Forms are available in the Broomfield High School counseling office and on the Foundation web site www.broomfieldfoundation.org and must be submitted to the counseling office by April 1, 2011.  This is a one time $1000 scholarship.
